Lauris and Rūta succeed at Radio Latvia 2 music awards!

A duet performed by the brother-and-sister team of Lauris and Rūta Reiniks was declared to be the 5th most valuable song of 2008 at the Radio Latvia 2 music awards ceremony, “Musical Bank 2008,” which was broadcast live from the town of Ventspils by Latvian Television. The song, “Es esmu tev dzīslās” (“I am in Your Veins”), took that spot thanks to votes from a jury and from listeners. The song also received a special award from users of the www.draugiem.lv/frype.com portal. Draugiem.lv is the most popular Internet site in Latvia and operates similarly to Facebook.

Performing their song live on stage at the event, Lauris and Rūta were joined by four other brother-and-sister couples who will feature in the song’s upcoming video. For the first time, Lauris was host of the awards ceremony.

Lauris has been very successful at the Radio Latvia 2 awards show for several years now, and that is considered in Latvia to be the most objective ceremony of its type. As fans will remember, Lauris’ song “Sirds Sadeg Neparasti” (“The Heart Burns Unusually”) won the top spot in the awards in 2002.
