auris Reiniks has completed his “Es skrienu” (I’m running) concert tour in Latvia with two sold-out performances at the Rīga Stradiņš University. Among those in attendance at the last concert was former Latvian President Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga. That concert, like the entire tour, was full of positivism and sincerity, with Lauris earning an excited reaction from the audience. During the successful tour, Lauris performed in 12 towns and cities. Because of intensive demand for tickets, he staged 17 concerts in place of the 11 that had initially been planned. This is something that is quite uncommon in the Latvian musical industry today.

“After this two-month marathon, which was longer that we had planned, I feel a lot of delight and pleasant weariness,” says Lauris. “I would like to thank everyone who came to the concerts, both young and old, throughout Latvia. Thanks to everyone who ran along with my team and me. I was delighted to see former President Vīķe-Freiberga and her husband in the audience for the concluding concert. That was a matter of great honour for me.”

Liene Šomase appeared on stage at the last two concerts to perform the song “Tik dīvaini tuvs” with Lauris. Aisha appeared to sing the popular duet “Pasakā” together with Lauris, as well. The song appears on the recently released “Es skrienu” album. On the evening of December 31, a video recording of the concert will be presented on LTV 7 as part of its holiday programme, with an encore presentation on January 2.

Other plans for Lauris at this time include a performance at the “Sing, Dance, Laugh” concert that will be hosted by Baiba Sipeniece and Valters Krauze at the Arena Riga on December 21, preparations for the Latvian preliminaries of the Eurovision Song Contest, and efforts to popularise the international hit “Es skrienu” (I’m running) beyond Latvia’s borders. At the conclusion of the tour, Lauris and the “Microphone Records” company which produced it are thanking everyone who attended the concerts, the staff at the concert venue, and particularly Čili Pica, the general sponsor of the tour and the album “Es skrienu.”
